Acceptable Use Policies
Putting Users
and Designers together
Acceptable use policies are also known
as AUP. Our
AUP policies are as outlined below.
We
reserve the right to amend, change, add to, or remove items within our
AUP policies as things change. As a client of our services you should
check with this page or directly with us about any new issues you need
to be made
aware of. We ourselves have policies we must adhere to as a provider of
services. Outgoing email services is NOT UP TO US alone to decide upon
such policies for instance.
As these things change so must our own AUP policies.
AUP
for Web sites we design, market, or manage
- We
only work for such area businesses from Jacksonville Florida to
as far south and west as Daytona/Gainesville Florida... Other outside
areas ARE allowed, but; we can NOT link to your sites news feeds or
other areas of your site unless your businesss is within these areas of
Florida!
- We
do
not do work for any sites which are adult only rated
- We
do not do work for SPAMMING type sites or phising type sites
- We
do not work with sites whom insist in displaying Popups which display
automatically upon entering the site
- We
do not
design Link Farm type sites
- We
do not design or
work on sites which are prejudicial or illegal in nature
- We
do not do work for anyone under the age of 18 years
- We
ONLY work for American Citizens within our covered areas per the
above
- The CLIENT is
responsible for managing their own login names/passwords.
- The
CLIENT is responsible for keeping THEIR computer up to date with the
latest Anti Virus software/Firewalls/Anti Spyware/Browsers, and other
normal CLIENT systems
- We do NOT display FLASH type animations or Page Redirects and such AS YOUR MAIN PAGE!
- NO open/constant connections to your sites SQL services are allowed!
- We REQUIRE to have your ISP given email address on file
AUP
for Hosting Services
- All
the above applies to sites we are hosting on our servers in addition to
- No
MUD type gaming clients/servers are allowed on our servers
- No
extensive File Downloads are allowed - A few are acceptable
upon my inspection of such
- No
Unapproved Scripting
or programming is allowed
- No
email harvesting or
spamming is allowed
- We do
NOT allow Runaway Processes to run from our servers!
Email Policies
Generally you are allowed to send email from our servers!
as a casual sort of general light duty type thing. You are NOT
however allowed to send thousands of emails daily through your domain
nor our web servers. IF you plan on sending a LOT of email, you should
setup your email account per the example shown below.
HERE is an example of the proper way to setup
your email account on our servers for ALL YOUR domain based email
accounts using your offline email program. In the example below we are
setting up a Domain based Email account (one within our Domain) which
is
jeh@hastings-florida.com
Our ISP (Internet Service Provider is Bellsouth.net in example below).. PS: I think Comcast uses: smtp.comcast.net for the (SMTP) setting shown in example below.
In the top line incoming mail (POP3) you simply type in mail and a Dot and then your Domain Name where that email address resolves to such as in
the example above......
In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) you would need to set this up according to the information YOUR ISP has provided to you!
in the Account name field - this is your email address at your website such as is shown in the example
The Password field is the password for your domain based email account which you have created
NORMALLY you do not have to setup the My server requires authentication field BUT sometimes you WILL have to do so (depends on YOUR ISP)
If your ISP tells you to setup this field, you would use the information THEY GIVE YOU to do so with.....
Now in the Advanced tab as shown below.. make sure the settings shown below are complete
as shown below (Unless YOUR ISP tells you differently)...
Now
as far as sending and receiving email from a Laptop or such from
another location, you CAN do this using our servers built in Web Mail
services.. Keep such things MODEST at all times while away from
your machine and know the statement below well....
ANYONE
who
causes our servers to shut OFF outgoing email from the server because
you have decided NOT to adhere to our rules (IE: you
send thousands of emails daily through the server) - WILL be
BILLED for doing so...
When
outgoing email is SHUT OFF because YOU wish
to push the envelope without regards to ANYONE else except yourself of
course, you effectively DENY OTHERS from being able to send mail from
their email accounts and webmail... All services (if you ever read the
fine print) have an AUP policy and Fair User Policy RULES. Basically
ALL fair user policies indicate the same thing we are telling you here
in our AUP policy page.. This simply means NO HOSTING company in the
world will allow a Single client to consume more than their FAIR SHARE
of server resources (including Email resources).. Fair share is
determined by the Server Owner (or administrator) and NOT by the client
or customer...
We
are a strict NO SPAM company as well which means that IF you are
SPAMMING others via email which causes OUR SERVER to become banned at
another ISP such as AOL, MSN, or other, we WILL bill you for such
accordingly as well as have the issue investigated by authorities !
You
can RECEIVE virtually unlimited INCOMING email, but SENDING Email from
your Domain is a courtesy service (Sending mail really is a service
YOUR ISP is meant to provide)
You should really just contact us
anyway for help with using your email (90% of Internet users are
CLUELESS in how to send mail properly) and we can help get you on the
right track to effective LEGAL and spam free email use.
If you have any questions in this regard submit it to us in writing via an Email or support request ticket in your CPANEL..
FAIR USAGE POLICY
The
above is considered a Fair User Policy which simply means NO PERSON is
allowed to consume system resources to a point whereas it makes those
services either UNAVAILABLE or very slow for other users of those
services... It is NOT fair for your account with us to consume MOST of
the outgoing email resources available leaving little to NONE available
for other users of our services, and this is not tolerated by us.
IF you need to send out a LOT of
email regularly, you can try using your ISP account to do so (likely
they will shut it down), OR use one of the many Email only type servers
available on the Internet (which are all fee based).. Those are your
options and are pretty much the same ANYWHERE else you may go (Read their fine print)..
AUP
for adding content at our various sites we own and manage
This
includes our florida web masters portal, flagler estates news portal,
palatka florida community news portal, florida webrunner search submit
engine, florida realty listings MLS site, Americas Bill of Rights
sites, St Augustine News Portal, A1a Classifieds, and other sites in
which we allow content creation and member
input.
- No
abusive postings
towards another member, or business is allowed
- No
FOUL language is allowed unless noted otherwise
- Any
and all postings made should be done in an appropriate area (category
or section). If one does not yet exist for what you have to say or wish
to POST TO, let us
know and we can create one for your needs
- In
all
cases posting rights require the user to adhere to the general posting
policies for the site
- In
ALL cases the user (YOU) are responsible for your OWN web site backups!
As hosted with our services you have easy to use systems in place to
allow you to make such backups EASILY! We suggest you use them.......
Florida
webmasters and FECN reserves all rights as to levels of service,
Prices, Availability of services, or approval or denial of services for
anyone for any reason we deem prudent and necessary, and certainly for
those not adhering to the above AUP policies.
We
maintain a BEST EFFORTS POLICY to ensure your site is up to date with
current technology, and that our servers where your site is hosted are
not unduly taxed so that your site runs at full speed as intended. Even
so, things happen which is WHY we stress the importance of keeping a
late date BACKUP of your sites files, SQL databases, and other such
information to safeguard yourself against potential loss of such.
Neither
John E Hogan, Debra J Hogan, Employees, or associates with and for
Affordnet Services, FECN News, or CW Computer Repair will be held
liable for loss of data, server downtimes or unavailability, or other
consequential damages which may occur as a result of outages, System
crashes, Hackers, just plain BAD security policies on YOUR part, or
other issues beyond the normal scope and control of a Best Efforts
Policy.

services will be held liable in any fashion for denial of services
beyond our control such as other clients hogging resources (which we
will tell them to stop or remove their account of course), disasters,
or hardware/software failures, nor for other issues such as Hackers,
power outages, and other issues beyond our control.
Additionally,
we are not responsible for YOUR DATA.. Your data is just that - YOURS
and as such is your responsibility to make sure you maintain regular
backups to YOUR computer or other system.
Our servers ARE co
Located in a regular data center with high speed access, UPS systems
for power outages, and Backup generators for longer term power outages.
When the power is OUT here in Florida due to hurricanes/etc, your site
WILL still be up and online. You may not be able to get ON IT of course
if your power is out, but short of a serious national disaster, it will
be online.
